Introduction

NCRTC (National Capital Region Transport Corporation) and Airtel Payments Bank have collaborated to introduce co-branded National Common Mobility Cards (NCMC) designed to enhance passenger convenience. These cards, which include Debit, Prepaid, and Prepaid Payment Instruments for Mass transit solutions (PPI- MTS) options, have officially launched today at the NCRTC corporate office by Mr. Shalabh Goel, MD, NCRTC and Mr Ganesh Ananthanarayanan, Chief Operating Officer, Airtel Payments Bank, alongside senior officials from both the organizations.

Exclusively issued by Airtel Payments Bank, these NCMC cards are set to streamline the travel experience for millions of commuters of Namo Bharat trains. The NCMC-enabled cards provide a unified payment solution that simplifies travel across various modes of transport—including metros, railways, and buses—eliminating the need for multiple tickets or cards anywhere in the country. Additionally, NCMC enabled prepaid & debit cards can be used for everyday transactions such as shopping and dining, making them a versatile choice for commuters.

Equipped with tap-and-pay technology, these cards facilitate quick and secure transactions at transit terminals, retail outlets, and other locations. The contactless payment feature enhances the speed and safety of transactions, ensuring a seamless experience for users. Airtel Payments Bank also offers PPI- MTS prepaid card option that can be used only for transit payments, expanding accessibility for a wider audience.

The co-branded NCMC cards are exclusively available for purchase on RRTS stations, making them easily accessible to commuters traveling on Namo Bharat trains and other transport modes. Users can also obtain these cards through the Airtel Payments Bank section on the Airtel Thanks app.

Mr Shalabh Goel, MD, NCRTC, added, "NCRTC’s collaboration with Airtel Payments Bank to launch NCMC-enabled cards marks a significant step in our ongoing efforts for multi-modal-integration, ensuring seamless connectivity across the region. With this all-in-one card, commuters can travel conveniently across India’s first RRTS and other public transit systems, while also managing utility and retail payments. This initiative underscores our dedication to efficiently transform the daily commutes, and ultimately help improve the quality of life for people."

Mr Ganesh Ananthanarayanan, Chief Operating Officer, Airtel Payments Bank, said, "We are excited to partner with NCRTC in enhancing the digital payment ecosystem for public transportation. The co-branded NCMC-enabled cards provide passengers with a secure, contactless, and comprehensive payment solution, not just for travel but also for everyday transactions.
