Why is my phone not turning on?

There can be multiple reasons as to why your phone is not turning on. However, more often than not, you can narrow it all down to these major reasons:

The phone is not turning on due to battery drainage

It is very highly possible that your battery has drained out completely and will not come back to life unless you connect it to a power source.

The phone is not switching on because of damage

Since we are on our phones the whole day, it is very easy to damage them be it physical damage (e.g., your phone fell out of your hands) or water damage (where water splashes on your device). Note that there are many devices that offer IP-rated protection against dust or water, but you can never be too sure about these.

Your phone could also have a software glitch

You might not have noticed before, but a software glitch could be ailing your smartphone that you hold so dear to you. Moreover, there are other third-party apps which could also affect the performance of your Apple or Android phone.

The first step on how to fix your phone is to not panic at all. If your phone is non-responsive and not turning on at all, then here are some things that you can do to ensure that your phone is back to normal, once again:

Restart your phone

Yes, we know that this is an age-old method when it comes to reviving your devices. Regardless, try restarting your device the normal way first. If that does not bear any results, then you will have to restart your phone forcefully.

Steps to force restart your iPhone 11 or newer models:

  • Press and release the volume up button quickly
  • Press and release the volume down button quickly now
  • Now hold down your power button till the device restarts

Steps to force restart your Google Pixel or any other Android phone:

  • Press down the power button for 30 seconds
  • Some models (such as Samsung phones) may also need you to press down the power button at the same time
  • Keep pressing the buttons until your device restarts

Switch on your Android phone with Safe Mode
