Why do I need FASTag for my second-hand car?

FASTag is now a government-mandated feature that needs to be there on every single vehicle out there. Now, when you are buying a second-hand car, always make sure that the FASTag account of the previous owner has been closed. Why?

FASTag accounts are linked to the car and to the owner’s name. When that owner hands over their vehicle to you, the FASTag account is still linked to him/her. As a result, on national highway tolls, FASTag might deduct funds from his/her bank account, instead of yours. This would eventually cause conflict between you too as well.

To ensure nothing like this happens, just ask the previous owner to raise a FASTag deactivation request for that vehicle from his side. Once FASTag has been deactivated on that account, you can go ahead and get FASTag on your name for your second-hand car and link it with your bank account too.
