Ubisoft is one of the world’s largest and most popular game developers, so any game that is released by the studio always manages to get the world’s attention. Their latest game, XDefiant, is an in-development shooter game that is about to get launched very soon. But the game has gone through some troubled waters in the past, so it remains to be seen if the game will see the light of the day. In this blog, we will take you through what we know so far.
When was XDefiant supposed to be released?
The Ubisoft team has pushed back on the game’s release date multiple times in the past, much to the annoyance of fans all over the world. So far, Ubisoft has been quite transparent with their fans in letting them know what stage the game is currently at. However, the regular procrastination has started worrying people.

In fact, there are murmurs in the gaming world that the fast-paced action shooter might not even be the polished product when it is eventually released. Ubisoft stresses that XDefiant will release before March 31
As part of the game developer’s recent earnings call, Ubisoft has stressed that according to its Q4 plan, XDefiant will be released before the 31st of March.
The company has not given any concrete date as of now, but they have still given some confirmation about the game’s arrival and that is better than having no information at all about its release. It is no doubt that the game has suffered quite a lot in the last few months. Especially more so, since it faced rejections from the world’s two best gaming console companies – Xbox and PlayStation.
As a result of all these factors, a game that was supposed to be launched in the summer of 2023 is now probably going to be released in the next few weeks.
Will XDefiant be better than Call Of Duty?
Ubisoft has delivered multiple successful titles over the last decade, and it is not new to the first-person shooting genre, thanks to the Tom Clancy games. But will the craze of XDefiant finally be able to topple off Call Of Duty from its heights?
Early signs point to the fact that it is going to be incredibly hard for Ubisoft to eat into Call Of Duty’s current market share. However, the innovative first person shooter with its free-to-play features will definitely be able to wrestle some weight off games such as The Fall.
Only time will tell if XDefiant does well, but because it is free to play, it looks promising for Ubisoft, provided they manage to release the heavily anticipated game on time, without any further delays, what has already been a frustrating timeline for many gamers.
