How did Bard come about?

Why did Google change the name from Bard to Gemini?

In February 2024, Google announced the rebranding of Bard to Gemini. This decision reflected not just a name change, but a significant leap forward in functionality. The new name, “Gemini,” refers to the constellation known for its twins, symbolising the model’s dual strengths in both factual language understanding and creative generation. It also served as a reminder that maybe Bard was not that good and had some limitations that was holding it back, with respect to the existing competition, such as ChatGPT 4.0. 

Why is Gemini better than Bard?

Gemini surpasses Bard in several ways:

Will Gemini eventually replace Google Assistant?

‘Ok Google’ is a phrase that is synonymous with Android users. Just say the words and your faithful virtual assistant will appear like magic to assist you with anything that you may need. However, that is about to change.

While Google has not explicitly stated that it will replace Google Assistant with Gemini, there is definitely a clear indication that the company is focusing more on the development of Gemini right now.
