  • Current passport: Your existing passport which needs the address update.
  • Self-attested photocopies of the first and last pages of your passport: These pages contain your personal details and the existing address.

 Step 2: Fill the Online Application

Visit the Passport Seva Website: Go to the official website [www.passportindia.gov.in] (http://www.passportindia.gov.in) and log in to your account. If you do not have an account, you will need to register by providing the required details.

  • Choose the Relevant Service: Select the “Apply for Reissue of Passport” option. This is because changing your address in the passport is treated as a reissue and not just a simple update.
  • Complete the Application Form: Fill in the required details. When it comes to the address section, ensure you input your new address correctly.

Step 3: Pay the Required Fees

After completing the application, proceed to the payment section. You can pay the prescribed fee online via debit/credit card, internet banking, or through an SBI bank challan.

Step 6: Passport Processing and Dispatch

  • Processing: After your appointment, your application for address change in the passport will be processed. This may involve police verification, depending on your particular case.
  • Dispatch: Once processed, your new passport with the updated address will be printed and dispatched to your new address through Speed Post.
