Start Using SMS
The floor is yours, to say what you want, up to 160 characters, using your phone. Send and receive messages to and from any 10-digit wireless phone number. You also receive info alerts including horoscopes, sports scores, jokes, and more.
Charges
Rs 1.50 for local SMS as per bill plan, Rs. 2 for National SMS & Rs. 5 for International SMS.
Please Note
A single SMS constitutes 160 characters. If your message exceeds 160 characters, it will be charged as an additional SMS. The successful delivery of each message also depends upon the network of the operator, it is sent on.
SMS Directory
Airtel has introduced the smart way to communicate with colleagues and close business associates. Now there's no need to remember the mobile numbers/landline numbers of colleagues while on the move. Simply type and send their names to a short code and get their contact numbers, instantly.
Language SMS
Send SMS messages to your near and dear ones in the language of your choice. Choose from Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Gujarati, Bangla, Marathi and of course - English. All phones that support picture messages would support this Language SMS.
Voice SMS
Now add emotions to your sms by sending a Voice SMS. To send a Voice SMS to any mobile number in India Just prefix * to the 10-digit mobile number and call. Record your message after the beep. You can record your message maximum upto 30 sec. After recording your message just press # or disconnect the call. The system records your voice and sends it to the person for whom you have left a Voice SMS.
Getting Started
You can send a Voice SMS message to any mobile number in India by dialing * and suffixing it with the recipient's mobile number (*9xxxxxxxxx), If your friend is a Local Airtel customer he will receive an out bound call with your number as the CLI else your friend will receive a SMS notification immediately, he can then pick up the message immediately or retrieve and reply later at his convenience.

Replies – While replying to a Voice SMS, the Non-Airtel subscriber is paying normal call charges applicable per minute as per subscriber's tariff plan.
